Traumatic Loss: Stories of Resilience and Recovery
Our state has suffered many horrors, from the Sandy Hook school massacre to the Petit home invasion. This month, we recall the September 11 attack that took so many lives. But such horrors are hardest on those who have lost loved ones. This Key Issues Forum looks at how people find the resiliency to recover from traumatic loss.
Speakers are:
- Madonna Badger, an advertising executive who lost her three children and parents in a 2011 fire that destroyed her Connecticut home.
- Kevin Becker, who has consulted on disasters globally. He is program director for the Massachusetts Resiliency Center, which serves the needs of the Boston Marathon bombing survivors.
- Mary Fetchet, a clinical social worker who lost her son Brad in the World Trade Center attack and founded VOICES of September 11th to provide support services for victims' families and survivors.
Andrew Julien, vice president and editor of The Courant, will moderate.
